Insurance and Enrollment

  • Which insurance plans do you accept?

We accept most major insurance plans, including Cigna, Aetna and BCBS. At time of enrollment, one of our utilization review specialists will contact your insurance company to pre-authorize treatment, prove medical necessity, and provide an estimate for any out of pocket costs. If insurance coverage isn’t an option, a sliding fee scale and payment plans are available.

  • What age groups do you serve and how are groups organized?

Greywood specializes in the treatment of adolescents and young adults, ages 12-26. Clients are clustered by age (e.g., 12-14, 15-17, and 18+) as well as anticipated group cohesion.

  • Do you treat co-occurring disorders?

Yes, we recognize clients rarely fit simply into a single diagnostic box. Our clients are not assigned to a ‘track’. Rather, every individual who comes to us receives the full Greywood experience, tailored to their goals and needs.

  • My child has tried other PHP / IOP programs with little success. Does it make sense for us to give Greywood a try?

Yes, the inspiration for our program development has always been to embrace those clients who have previously struggled to progress at other PHP / IOPs.

  • How is your program different from other PHP / IOPs in the Chicago area?

Often, IOPs focus on extinguishing crises. Immediate stabilization, symptom reduction, and skill development are the crux of programming.

At Greywood, we take treatment even further, targeting the sources fueling downturns in a holistic framework. Doing so minimizes future recurrence and inspires greater psychological stability, resilience, and flourishing.

  • Do you offer medication management?

Yes, weekly psychiatric care is included for our PHP and IOP clients.

Clients who are already seeing an outpatient psychiatrist will be asked to sign a release of information form at time of enrollment. Doing so will allow us to coordinate care over the course of treatment and at time of discharge.

  • What is the difference between your IOP and PHP services?

The primary difference between IOP and PHP is the number of hours per day that someone spends at our center. IOP clients enroll for 3 hours per day, while PHP clients enroll for 6.

  • Should my child see their own psychiatrist or therapist while in the program?

We generally recommend our clients focus upon in-house care while enrolled in our program. Seeing two providers can be daunting and counterproductive to therapy, and for safety reasons, medication management should only be overseen by one medical provider at a time. Additionally, insurance will often deny coverage for concurrent treatment. Upon your child’s discharge, we will work with existing outpatient providers to successfully transfer back care.

  • Are your restrooms gender-neutral?

Yes, our restrooms are single-user and gender-neutral.

  • Is family therapy included as part of your programming?

Family therapy is an integral part of our program. For our adolescent clients, weekly sessions that include caretakers are a cornerstone. For our young adult clients, family therapy is optional and can include a partner or spouse rather than parents and siblings.

  • What is the average duration of your programs?

Every individual is unique, and treatment plans are personalized to a client’s specific situation and needs. That being said, the average duration across all of our programs is 4 weeks.

  • Will my child receive school credit while enrolled at Greywood?

Yes, individuals enrolled in our PHP will receive fully accredited educational programming, which includes daily supervised study, case management and coordination of care between our treatment team, the client’s school, and all caretakers. We strive to ensure minimal disruption to academic routines and progress while at Greywood.

  • How does the discharge process work?

Once it is determined that a client is ready to transition out of the program and back to their regular routine, our team will work closely with the client’s school, caretakers, and healthcare providers to ensure a mindful and coordinated experience. A follow-up plan will also be developed.
