Adult Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) : What Is It, And When Is It Right For You?
At Greywood Health Center, the purpose of our adult IOP Chicago is to provide intensive and focused treatment to individuals who are dealing with moderate to severe mental health issues. This program is offered as a step-down level of care following a more intensive inpatient or residential treatment, or it can serve as an alternative to those who do not require a higher level of care and are needing a healthy option for their work-life balance.
Our adult IOP involves a combination of therapeutic interventions, counseling, education, and support services. Greywood Health Center’s mind-body approach has proved to be immensely effective for so many of our clients and we can’t wait to help you on your journey to healing as well. Adult Work-Life Balance Is Difficult
We understand that achieving a healthy work-life balance can be challenging for many adults due to various factors, and this difficulty can sometimes deter individuals from seeking mental health help. Here are a few reasons why work-life balance can be problematic and how it may impact someone’s decision to seek mental health support and why we feel adult intensive outpatient programs are so beneficial to our clients:
Demanding Work Culture
Many workplaces have high expectations, long hours, and intense pressure to perform, which can make it difficult to prioritize personal well-being. The constant need to meet deadlines, handle workloads, and compete in a demanding environment can lead to excessive stress, burnout, and neglect of self-care. While attending our intensive outpatient program, clients will still be able to continue with at least a part-time work schedule, so the pressure of falling severely behind is alleviated.
Limited Time and Energy
At Greywood Health Center we understand that balancing work commitments with personal life can leave individuals with limited time and energy for their own well-being. The need to fulfill responsibilities such as childcare, household chores, or caring for elderly family members can further strain an individual’s time and resources, leaving little room to focus on their mental health needs. Our family therapy sessions will allow family members to open up communication for the necessary support system so the entire family unit can feel supported and fill in where needed.
Stigma and Perception
There can be a stigma attached to seeking mental health help, with some individuals perceiving it as a sign of weakness or inadequacy. In work environments where there is a culture of competitiveness or a focus on productivity above all else, employees may fear that acknowledging mental health struggles could negatively impact their professional reputation or advancement opportunities. Our group therapy sessions provide that sense of community that allows our clients to feel supported and not so alone when surrounded by peers who are experiencing similar life challenges.
Fear of Consequences
Some individuals may worry about the potential consequences of seeking mental health help, such as being judged, facing discrimination, or jeopardizing job security. Concerns about how their employer or colleagues might react can create a barrier to seeking support, especially if there is a lack of understanding or support for mental health in the workplace. Throughout our program we will address these fears and express the understanding that there is no shame in seeking help. We will help you work with your employer and provide communication skills in how to approach the subject with colleagues and peers without being overwhelmed by fear.
Mental Health Disorders And Symptoms
We highly encourage individuals to reach out to Greywood Health Center if they are having any range of moderate to severe symptoms related to mental health. It is very common for mental health disorders to have an underlying issue or co-occurring disorder, and we are fully prepared to address those throughout our adult intensive outpatient program. During the initial assessment, we will develop a customized plan of support for each client that will greatly benefit them throughout their healing journey.
Mind-Body Approach
At Greywood Health Center our mind-body approach is the foundation of our program. It recognizes the interconnectedness of the body and mind in psychological well-being and therapy. It integrates traditional psychotherapy techniques with practices that focus on bodily experiences, sensations, and movement. We have seen a vast improvement in the mental health of our clients as they take the steps to participate in our mind-body approach therapies and allow us to walk beside them in their journey to healing.
Our Intensive Outpatient Program Hours
Intensive outpatient programs Chicago are less intense than partial hospitalization and allow clients to maintain at least a part-time work schedule. With clients attending three hours a day, five days a week, for approximately three to six weeks. Program hours are Monday through Friday from 9am to 12pm, 12:30pm to 3:30pm, or 4:30 pm to 7:30pm.
We Accept Insurance
We understand that insurance and cost can play a huge role in the decision to seek assistance with mental health. For that reason, rest assured that we accept most major insurance plans, including Cigna, Aetna, and BCBS. At the time of enrollment, one of our utilization review specialists will contact your insurance company to pre-authorize treatment, prove medical necessity, and provide an estimate for any out-of-pocket costs. If insurance coverage isn’t an option, a sliding fee scale, and payment plans are available.
